The moon was only a small sliver and the stars twinkled all around it. Pigaroo stretched his neck, trying to see all the bright, winking lights at once. That gave Pigaroo an idea.

"I know what I can do now!" he shouted gleefully. "I'll count all the stars. Won't Mama be surprised in the morning when I tell her how many stars there are!"

Pigaroo sat down in a pile of leaves and began to count.

"One, two, three..." he counted, and on and on all night.
